Miriam Osman is a Research Associate at Upturn working primarily on public benefits. Her background is in education and research, with previous positions at New York University, Achieve Twin Cities, and Food First. Her previous research focused on history and political economy in the Middle East. Miriam also brings her experience in community organizing to Upturn, where she is interested in foregrounding the relationships between knowledge production and the needs of organizers and community partners.

Miriam has an M.A. in near eastern studies from New York University and a B.A. in international studies from Macalester College. In her free time, she likes to cook for loved ones, be outdoors, and start carpentry projects that don’t actually match her skill level.
